Nothing Tweaks the Memory like a Song

And my daughter has been listening to one of my childhood favorites: Raffi. (It's one of those rambling posts that doesn't really have a point, but I ask a pointed question at the end, so it's sort of pointy.)

Oh Lordy, we listened to that Raffi album over and over, and I know all those songs, and we still sing the tooth brushing song at tooth brushing time. (My big girls just got their ears pierced, though teeth were not part of the bargain, and let me assure you you will see the world through new eyes as the mother of a pretty girl with earrings.)

I so want to get Jane's ears pierced, probably more than she does-which is why I haven't done it--yet.

Ten was my line in the sand. The oldest didn't want her ears pierced at 10, so we let that pass, but the second, age 9-going-on-29, pointed out that they were going to be in two weddings this summer, and that if they got their ears pierced now, they would be able to change them out by the first wedding. I was seduced by this logic. And now they both look so lovely it scares me.
